Area (AVA), the first in North Carolina. A true river valley,
it covers over 14 million acres of rolling foothills in northwestern

excellent conditions for growing European varietals such as chardonnay,
viognier, riesling, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah and cabernet
franc.
